Plant Spirit Medicine Program


Program Directors: Robert Rogers
and Laurie Szott-Rogers


The courses in this stream are designed to equip the student with a strong background in plant medicine. Courses such as herbology and aromatherapy will provide a knowledge base of plant properties and techniques for using the plants therapeutically. Other courses in the stream will explore the spirit of plant medicine and give learners the opportunity to connect with the higher intelligence of both plants and clients, by integrating intuitive skills.


Plant Spirit Medicine - Year One

Herbology - Introductory **
84 hours — Start Date: January 9, 2009
Instructor: Robert Rogers


Previous study in Anatomy and Physiology are preferred, but not required.

This course will focus on bioregional plants. Topics include: herbal properties, constituents and energetics. The course will be broken into body system classes, such as: skin, liver, and immune system. Plant medicine making, and a Sunday herb walk will also be included.

Iridology Introductory **

The history, iris anatomy, constitutional and subtypes, pupil tonus and iacuna will be studied.


The Magic of Regional Mushrooms **

7 hours — Date: June 12, 2009 9-5 p.m.
Instructor: Robert Rogers


Learn about some local mushrooms, how to locate them, and their gastronomical and medicinal uses. Wear clothing appropriate for mushroom hunting.


Shamanic Dream - Journeying One **
7 hours — Date: June 13, 2009 9-5 p.m.
Instructor: Laurie Szott- Rogers


Learn to Journey to the underworld. Discover your plant or animal totem to aid in developing a personal relationship with the plant world.


Native Plant Medicine

3 hours — Date: June 14, 2009 9-12 p.m.
Instructor: Robert Rogers


Tour the Devonian Gardens native medicine garden. Learn to identify and use these indigenous herbs.


The Medicine Wheel

4 hours — Date: June 14, 2009 1-5 p.m.

Learn to use your intuition to pick herbs of medicinal and spiritual properties. Smudge to allow a sacred space to evolve.


Wild Crafting & Plant Medicine Making **

28 hours — Dates: August 6-9, 2009 9-5 p.m.
Instructor: Robert Rogers


The ethics and methods of wild crafting plant material. Wear clothing appropriate for walking in nature. Learn to make tinctures, salves and other plant medicines.




Plant Spirit Medicine - Year Two

Aromatherapy - Introductory **
70 hours — Start Date: September 11, 2009
Instructors: Robert Rogers and Laurie Szott-Rogers


Learn about the properties and uses of more than 100 essential oils and over 20 carrier oils. Topics such as: toxicology and medical aromatherapy
are covered.

Flower Essences - Introductory **
70 hours — Start Date: December 11, 2009
Instructors: Robert Rogers and Laurie Szott-Rogers


This class explores the vibrational nature of flower essences, used for emotional and spiritual nurturing. Properties of Dr. Bach’s 38 essences, the Californian Flower Essence Societies 100 plus essences are discussed. A focus on personal growth, interviewing and working with clients is encouraged.

Herbology - Advanced **

70 hours — Start Date: April 9, 2010
Instructor: Robert Rogers
Pre-requisite: Introductory Herbology
Work experience: 70 hours (In lieu of program specialty summer hours.)


Thesis: 25 pages (estimated 45 hours)
Topics in this course are: plant pharmacology, pharmakinetics, and plant alchemy. Important herbs not covered in the introductory course will be taught including some from other traditions. Students will also learn about herbal combinations and herb and drug interactions. There will be an emphasis on clinical practice, and each scholar will gain experience through case studies; as well as theory, on working with clients including children and seniors.

Plant Spirit Medicine - Year Three


Iridology Advanced **

21 hours — Dates: September 10-12, 2010 9-5 p.m.
Instructor: Robert Rogers
Pre-requisite: Introductory Iridology


This course will include: colour pigments, American and European approaches to iridology and case-studies. Also includes Rayid Iridology.


Advanced Aromatherapy **

77 hours — Start Date: October 8, 2010
Instructors: Robert Rogers and Laurie Szott-Rogers
Pre-requisite: Introductory Aromatherapy
Work Experience: 35 hours (In lieu of program specialty summer hours.)


Thesis: 25 pages
This course will delve deeper into aspects of aromatherapy, such as, hydrosols and kitchen cosmetic making. Learn more about properties of exotic oils and oils of the prairies. We will also cover blending and hair, skin and body care. The fascinating worlds of Psycho-aromatherapy and esoteric aromatherapy will also be visited.

Flower Essence - Advanced **

75 hours — Start Date: January 14, 2011
Instructors: Laurie Szott-Rogers and Robert Rogers
Pre-requisite: Introductory Flower Essences - FES, GMCC, or Northern Star

Case Studies: 3 longitudinal (About 70 hours),
Personality Profile and Plant Profile


This course will address core questions each person faces when living a soulful life. The life lessons of planetary, and dream archetypes will be studied. Students will spend significant classroom time, working with a partner to explore their own patterns. They will then have the opportunity to practice this methodology of imagination on clients.


This course will draw on the works of Patricia Kaminski, and Richard Katz of the Flower Essence Society. Satisfactory completion of all phases of this course may allow certification by the North American Flower Essence Society, as a Flower Essence practitioner.

Experience journeying to the Middle, Water and Upper Worlds. Deepen your relationship with your guides to help with life decisions and knowledge of the plant realm.
